Spiritual Exercises of the Saints
Christians are encouraged to show their faith through doing good works. However, it is important to remember that we are saved by grace, not works. (Ephesians 2: 8-9). Once saved, we are commissioned to do the work which God has given us to accomplish His purpose for our lives. James 2:14-20

    All Lives Matter
James reminds us that Christians are not to show partiality. We must be careful not to segregate or be prejudiced toward others because of their heritage, race, economic conditions, etc. In God’s eyes, we are all equals and we all matter to Him. James 2: 1-13

The Prodigal Son: A Dysfunctional Family
    Series: No Series
The Lord’s Supper is a representation of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross for us, the Body of Christ. We are a family of brothers and sisters, joined together to our Father. The purpose for family is fellowship, celebration, joy, and peace. We need to be a functional family and work together. The Lord’s Supper is a calling for all believers to return to the Father with a repentant heart, just as the prodigal son did. Luke 15: 1-2; 11-32

    Good Practical Stuff
The Epistle of James gives Christians good practical stuff so that we won’t just have a profession, but so that we will have a practice. We’ve looked at trials and temptations. Today we look at how Christians should respond to the Word of God. James 1: 19-26

    Practical Stuff
God gives us practical stuff to live our Christian life, like trials and temptations. By enduring these things, we will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised (vs.12). James 1:12-18 NKJV

Trials can help us exercise our faith. When we face trials there are three things we should do: 1. Reckon 2. Understand 3. Rely/Submit/Yield. James 1: 2-4

    Recognize Trials with Joy
If you are enduring something, you know that God has allowed a trial in your life. How will you react? Trials are allowed to try our faith. They can make us bitter or better. The choice is ours. James 1: 2-3; Hebrews 12: 2-3; 1 Peter 4: 12-13; John 6: 6, 12

We are on this earth for just a short time and we want to make the most of our time. One way to do this is to deal with our possessions in such a way as to honor the Lord. Greed is a problem for many in our country. It is the spirit of the anti-christ and one of the seven deadly sins mentioned in the New Testament. To deal with greed, we must learn to be content. Brother Mike discusses greed and gives tips on how to learn to be content. Luke 12:16-21; Philippians 4: 11

    Change

Technology has brought many changes in the last 100 years. God wants to bring about change in our lives, but He wants us to have a change of heart. He wants us to yield to the Lord so that we can reflect His light and nature. Spending time with God changed Moses’ life and it can change ours, too. 2 Corinthians 3: 15-16, 18; 5:17

    I Y’am What I Y’am (Regrets)
    Series: No Series
Everyone has regrets. Peter, the apostle, and Paul, the disciple, both experience regret in their denial of Jesus Christ. Yet, Jesus forgave them when they confessed their sin, just as we are forgiven when we confess our sins. After you have confessed your sin and asked God to forgive you, the sin is forgotten by God. So then when regret comes to mind and tries to make you feel guilty about forgiven sin, claim Romans 8:28. We can’t change the past, we can only move forward. Romans 8:28; 1 Corinthians 15:9-10; 2 Corinthians 7:9-10; Ephesians 1:7; Philippians 3:13-14

When Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, he did not intend it to cause segregation, debate, or separation. It was intended to unify Christians worldwide as they met to remember what Christ had done for them. It was also an epiphany for the Disciples-Christ, the Son of God, demonstrated humility, love and sacrifice as they were arguing over which one of them was the greatest disciple. Matthew 26: 26-30 (NKJV)

People look for balance in their lives. They strive for the perfect “peaceful moment”. But in the parable of the sower, Jesus talked about the troubles of the Christian sowing the seeds of the Gospel. For the evangelistic Christian, there seldom is a peaceful moment. Still, the most important job for a Christian is to sow seeds of the Gospel. Matthew 13: 1-9 (NKJV)
